Low-Dose CT Lung Cancer Screening

3D Mammography

Women who are 40 and older and considered at average risk for breast cancer are encouraged to begin yearly mammogram screenings. Regular screening remains one of the most effective ways to detect breast cancer early.

Mammography is the gold standard for breast cancer detection and diagnosis. When enhanced with 3D mammography, also known as tomosynthesis, screening becomes even more effective, particularly for individuals with dense breast tissue.

While traditional 2D mammography captures a single flat image of the breasts, 3D mammograms take multiple low-dose X-ray images from different angles. These images are reconstructed into thin, layered “slices,” allowing radiologists to see breast tissue with far greater detail. This improved clarity increases the likelihood of identifying small or hidden cancers.

Despite the additional imaging, 3D mammography uses a very low dose of radiation, similar to standard mammograms, keeping exposure extremely minimal.

How 3D Mammography Is Used

Screening mammograms
The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) recommends that individuals assigned female at birth begin annual screening at age 40. Those with a strong family history of breast cancer or genetic mutations may be advised to start screening earlier.

Diagnostic mammograms
If you have symptoms such as a new lump, breast pain, or skin changes, your provider may order a 3D diagnostic mammogram in Phoenix. This technology helps clarify findings, rule out cancer, or determine whether a biopsy is necessary.

Tomosynthesis Technology

Tomosynthesis provides the fastest, highest-resolution 3D breast images, along with mammograms that many patients find more comfortable than traditional methods.

HOLOGIC 3D CLARITY HD

  • Produces images with twice the tomosynthesis resolution of standard 3D mammography.
  • Detects 20–65% more invasive breast cancers compared to 2D mammography alone.

3D Breast Biopsy

This advanced 3D-guided biopsy technology helps radiologists locate and sample very small or subtle areas of concern seen on mammography.

  • Accurately targets tiny calcifications and subtle lesions.
  • Ideal for findings that may only appear on tomosynthesis.

SmartCurve™ Breast Stabilization System

  • Designed to make compression more comfortable.
  • Proven to reduce discomfort in 93% of patients who typically experience moderate to severe pain with standard compression.

Faxitron™ Core Specimen Imager

A specialized radiography system that provides instant imaging of biopsied breast tissue, ensuring the correct area was sampled and reducing the chance of needing additional procedures.

3DQuorum™ Imaging AI

Cutting-edge artificial intelligence that enhances mammography interpretation by highlighting clinically significant areas and improving overall workflow efficiency.
