At Arizona Diagnostic Radiology, we believe that early detection saves lives. When breast cancer is identified in its earliest stages, the five-year survival rate approaches 100%. Regular mammogram screenings are one of the most effective tools for catching breast cancer early, and we’re committed to ensuring that every woman in Arizona has access to this vital service.
To bring advanced breast imaging directly to our communities, we proudly operate Maddy the Arizona Diagnostic Radiology Mobile Mammography Fleet. These state-of-the-art mobile coaches are fully equipped with digital 3D mammography technology, providing a private, comfortable, and convenient setting for screening exams.
All mammograms performed through our mobile program are interpreted by Breastlink and Arizona Diagnostic Radiology fellowship-trained breast radiologists, ensuring that every patient receives expert review and accurate results.
Advanced Technology for Every Patient
Each Maddy Mobile Mammography Coach is equipped with Hologic high-definition 3D mammography systems, the same technology used in our full-service imaging centers. This ensures patients experience the same high level of diagnostic accuracy and image quality, no matter where they are screened.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
For Patients
What technology is available on the Maddy Mobile Mammography vehicles?
Our mobile units feature the same advanced Hologic 3D mammography systems found in Arizona Diagnostic Radiology’s imaging centers, allowing for detailed, high-resolution breast imaging and consistent, reliable results.
Who reads the mammograms performed on the Mobile Mammography Coaches?
All mobile screening mammograms are interpreted by our fellowship-trained breast imaging specialists from Arizona Diagnostic Radiology and Breastlink, leaders in breast imaging and early detection. Our radiologists work closely with patients and referring physicians to provide clear, actionable results.
What happens after my Screening Mammogram?
Your images are reviewed by one of our dedicated breast radiologists, and a detailed report is sent directly to your healthcare provider. You’ll also receive a text or email from Arizona Diagnostic Radiology with your results.
If additional imaging is needed, our team will contact you with next steps and assist you in scheduling a diagnostic mammogram at one of our imaging centers. If you haven’t heard from us within two weeks, please reach out to ensure your results have been received.
Can I have a mammogram on the mobile coach if I’m experiencing breast pain or symptoms?
Mobile exams are screening mammograms, designed for patients without symptoms. If you’re experiencing breast pain, a lump, nipple discharge, or other changes, you’ll need a diagnostic mammogram, which can be performed at one of our Arizona Diagnostic Radiology centers. Our team can help you find the most convenient location and coordinate your care.
Do I need a doctor’s referral to schedule a mobile screening mammogram?
You do not need a referral for a screening mammogram on the mobile coach. However, you’ll be asked to provide your healthcare provider’s contact information so your results can be shared if any findings require follow-up.
Is insurance accepted?
The Arizona Diagnostic Radiology Mobile Mammography Program accepts most major insurance plans in Arizona. For special community events hosted by organizations or nonprofits, screening costs are often covered by the sponsoring foundation.
How should I prepare for my mammogram?
- Wear a two-piece outfit for convenience, as you’ll need to undress from the waist up.
- Avoid deodorant, lotions, or perfumes before your exam (wipes are available on-site if needed).
- Inform the technologist if you’re pregnant, breastfeeding, or have breast implants before your screening.
What if my results show an abnormality?
If your screening indicates a finding that requires additional imaging, our staff will contact you to schedule a diagnostic mammogram or follow-up exam at an Arizona Diagnostic Radiology location. We’ll ensure your images and reports are seamlessly transferred if you need to continue your care elsewhere.
Are the mobile coaches accessible for patients with disabilities?
Accessibility upgrades, including wheelchair lifts, are being added to our mobile fleet. Currently, patients must be able to climb a few short steps to board.
How can I schedule a mobile mammogram appointment?
The Maddy Mobile Mammography Fleet travels throughout Arizona, visiting community events, health fairs, and workplace health programs. To find out when a coach will be near you, or to book a visit for your organization, contact Arizona Diagnostic Radiology or visit our locations page to find a center nearby.
At Arizona Diagnostic Radiology, our mission is to make breast health more accessible for every woman. Whether you visit one of our centers or step aboard the Maddy Mobile Mammography coach, you’ll receive the same exceptional care, advanced technology, and commitment to early detection that define everything we do.
